Agricultural Ecology at the O'Neill Property
Agroecology
We understand the integrated nature of social systems and the natural world. As such, we are designing our farming endeavors at the property of Carla & Dan O'Neill in South Olympia to bring principles of ecology into our agriculture practices.
Community Education Garden
We will have a larger garden for education purposes and for harvesting food for sale and for those less fortunate. We view this a a terrific opportunity to teach people about their environment and provide them with a real-world experience growing food.
Research
We will also be conducting research. We have two major areas of research: We are interested in the changes in the rhizosphere (Interactions between plant roots and soil microbes) after crop rotation; and we are also interested in testing no-till wood chip gardening practices.
